We all know Michele is one tough cookie.
Having been raised by Michele, believe me, Bradley and I have a long list of rather embarrassing childhood stories, where at the time, we were just too young to understand all of these acts were done out of an endless love and fierce support.
I remember my first day of freshman orientation at Claremont McKenna College in California.
My parents and I had driven out to Claremont, CA from Dallas together. The 22 hour drive seemed long as hell and something about driving through West Texas and the desert doesn’t exactly get you fired up to start school at a place where you know no one. My parents knew I was nervous, sad, anxious.
After the very first meeting, there was a social for new students and their parents. I was nervously just sort of standing there with my parents.
So Michele sprung into action.
She turned to me and said, “Stay here, I’ll be right back.” I knew this was not going to be good.
She wandered off through the crowd and about 10 minutes later came back with two other huge, strapping 6 foot 3 and 6 foot 6 freshman boys. She looked at me and said, “Zach, meet Craig and Dan. They are playing basketball too and you should meet them.”
With a face about as red as a stop sign, I met two people who to this day are still some of my best friends.
Michele’s courage that day remains a story we still laugh about to this day. Michele is courageous, never been afraid of anyone, and never takes ‘no’ for an answer.
And I know she will continue to attack this with the same ferocity and will.
As we continue to monitor her body’s reaction to the chemotherapy drugs we will keep everyone up to date.
“And I know, you’re stronger than that.”
Love,
Zach

Linda and family-
Haha, thank you Linda! I am sure you have many good stories that might involve a soccer field, baseball diamond, or hockey rink. I know how you and my mom liked to mix it up at those games! There are some referees out there who got an ear or two full 🙂
Much Love. Zach

Zach,
I certain that Michele is now receiving all of the love and devotion, in equal measure, that you benefited from under her guidance and direction. She raised some mighty fine sons who represent her so very well. Please call if there is anything Bill and I can do to make things a little easier for you. You are all in our hearts and prayers every single day!
Ann-Marie-

Your mom in her finest moment!! We have your family in our lives because of her determination to find friends for her son. Gotta love that!
I used to jog and ask God to take my strength and give it to Tom. My jog became a power walk and I asked my strength to be given to Emily. Now because of Dan, I am running up stairs (12 sets no less), and as I’m sweating and cussing to myself, I ask that all my effort be given to Michele. It works- this prayer of mine- so Michele, feel it, use me, keep being strong!

I knew you would like this story Patty! It is one of my favorites.
Thank you for all the prayers, positive energy, and strength. It does sound like yours have some pretty potent power 🙂
And I’m not surprised Dan has you running stairs!! Give my best to Eric & Tom.
Much love.

I was left speechless when i spoke to Scott last Friday and learned what was going on. And you of all people know that is almost IMPOSSIBLE.
I immediately made sure Daddy knew – sometimes it takes a little more time to find him in heaven – he always did go sight seeing a lot. He said to tell you there is no room for you yet nor in the future and if you do not watch your p’s and q’s he will be visiting soon for a quick lecture. And you know Harold Joe is stubbornnnnn.
So when your doorbell goes off in the middle of the night or you find things aren’t in the same place you left them, yep, it’s Daddy. He and i both love you.
And just between you and me let’s do not get Daddy riled!Gabby (karen)
